David Beckham has revealed that he has no plans to retire from playing football, insisting that he still believes he can play at the top level.
The 36-year-old – who is still playing for LA Galaxy in America – has even been linked with a move to some top European clubs, justifying his belief that he shouldn’t call it a day just yet.
Referring to his future, Beckham said: “People have been saying [I am too old] for the last 10 or 15 years and I’ve still continued to play for my country.”
“Right now, I feel fit and still love playing, so I’m not finishing yet. I’m a Galaxy player and I will continue to be a Galaxy player until we win the league – the MLS Cup – and then we’ll see.
“I haven’t even sat down and thought about what my options are yet.”
There has been reported interest from Paris St Germain though, as well as a host of Premier League clubs, something which Beckham is delighted about.
He continued “At 36 years old to still have that interest in me is an honour, I’m very flattered.”
Beckham did give some hint as to what he would like to do when he finishing playing though, with the possibility of buying a club in America appealing to him.
On this subject, he said: “I have the option and it’s something I probably will do. Obviously I have to wait until I finish playing. I want to be part of something that is going to grow and I believe that this sport is going to grow.”
There is no doubt that he is set to have some spare time on his hands when the time comes to retire though and with this in mind, he might consider a trip to www.pokerstars.co.uk and maybe a second career as a poker player?! Who knows! Whatever he does, we are sure he will excel.
