GDANSK/POZNAN, Poland ● All those who saw a conspiracy during the Euro2012, were proven wrong.

Although it took a while, but the world and European champions Spain reached the quarter-finals of Euro 2012 as winners of Group C and sent Croatia crashing out after beating them 1-0 in Gdansk. Jesus Navas scored during the fainl five minutes of the match which was stamped a ‘biscotti’ before the game.

So no expected draw for Spain and Croatia, which meant Italy also progressed after outclassing the Republic of Ireland 2-0 in Poznan.

La Squadra Azzurra opened the scoring after 35 minutes thanks to a superb header from AC Milan forward Antonio Cassano.

Manchester City’s Mario Balotelli made sure of the win in injury time with an outstanding overhead kick from Alessandro Diamanti’s corner.
