Former Manchester United man: Van Persie should pick Old Trafford

MANCHESTER, England   ●    Former Manchester United defender Gary Pallister has spoken about his belief that Arsenal striker Robin Van Persie should move to Old Trafford this summer.

It has been widely documented amongst football betting pundits that Van Persie will not sign a new deal at the Emirates of course and there has been plenty of speculation about his future.

Interest from Manchester United, Manchester City and Juventus has been well documented, as has Arsenal’s desire to hold onto their captain. Many people have their opinion on what Van Persie should do and this includes Pallister.

He said: “Strikers get frustrated at City and I don’t think Van Persie would be rotated as much at United.”

“Van Persie has proven he is top quality and I don’t think he would have any problem establishing a lethal partnership with Wayne Rooney.”

“So if it’s for footballing reasons, then I think Manchester United would be the ideal place for him. Whether it would make the difference [to them winning the title this season], I’m not sure.”

“The goal difference was basically down to one game – the match at Old Trafford against City which cost them dearly, but it should never have gone that far.”

“City were definitely better with the strength of their squad last year and it had such depth in it as well, that it gave them an advantage. That is something Ferguson has been and will be addressing.”

The thought of Van Persie and Rooney up front together certainly is a fascinating one. The amount of goals they could score between them is frightening. They should link up well together too as they are players with a different style.

In the end though, it seems very unlikely Arsenal will want to sell to Manchester United. Having said that, if they put in a decent offer and Van Persie expresses his desire to go there, it could happen.

A fascinating few weeks in this Van Persie transfer story awaits. Will it be Manchester United, Arsenal, Manchester City or Juventus for the Dutchman next season?
