NEW YORK, NY ● On Saturday, Oct. 20 Manchester United will play Stoke City at Old Trafford, but 2,000 fans in the United States will watch the match live from New York City in a venue designed to look like the legendary stadium.
The free “I Am United Fan Party, Powered by FOX Soccer” will offer attendees the chance to meet Manchester United legends, such as Bryan Robson and Dion Dublin, and take in all the match day action as if they were at the game.
The unique ‘I Am United’ campaign in New York is aimed at bringing the Club closer to its global fan base. And its celebrated team Manager Sir Alex Ferguson has challenged the city’s fans to match the noise levels at the Club’s Old Trafford stadium.
Fans can support the campaign online, by mobile or in person at one of the many free ‘I Am United’ parties being held around the world this season, hosted by one of the Club’s legend players. Each party will offer a range of exciting activities, including competitions and giveaways.
The first ‘I Am United’ party will be held at New York’s Terminal 5 Stadium, which will be designed to include some of Old Trafford’s signature features.
The event is powered by FOX Soccer, America’s leading destination for the sport, which will air the match at 10 a.m. ET. Only fans who sign up to the ‘I Am United’ campaign at www.manutd.com will have the chance to attend.
A range of activities, suitable for fans of all ages, will be offered in the lead up to a live screening of the Manchester United vs. Stoke City match. Manchester United Manager Sir Alex Ferguson said:
“We are lucky to have so many loyal fans around the world. What brings us all together is the thought that We Are United. This campaign is a great way of acknowledging that dedication and commitment. Our fans on game days are among the noisiest most passionate anywhere in sport. The challenge I have for those gathering in New York is to make as much noise as the 76,000 people who’ll be inside Old Trafford that day!”
