Van Persie donates bonus to Dirk Kuyt Foundation

NOORDWIJK, Netherlands   ●    Robin van Persie donated his bonus as topscorer of the English Premier League to the Dirk Kuyt Foundation.

With his foundation the former Liverpool player supports and organizes events for handicapped athletes.

Kuyt was overwhelmed with the Van Persie gift, his £30.000,00 bonus.

“I’m honored Robin has chosen my foundation for his donation”, said the Fenerbahçe player at sport-promotion.nl.

“I have known Robin sinds we both played for Feyenoord. He is one of the best players in the world, but this tells you what kind of a person he is.”

Van Persie said he has a lot of respect for Dirk Kuyt.

“He is always so enthused about his Foundation and I simply admire him for his efforts to help handicapped athletes. So, for me it was an easy choice. I know for sure it will be money well spent.”

Party because of Robin van Persie’s donation and the Dirk Kuyt foundation 20-year old Marlou van Rhijn can participate during the Paralympics in London. Van Rhijn is known as the Dutch ‘blade-runner’.

Van Persie and DKF have an utter respect for her.

“She is an example to us all. But besides her there are thousands of young athletes with a handicap. It is wonderful to be able to help out a little bit.”
